Red Cabbage and Apples
Crockpot red cabbage and apples that's great with sausages.
1/2 tsp ground cardemon
1 tsp chervil
1 tsp fennel seed
1 tsp savory leaves
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
3 <span class="measurestring" title="medium (2-3/4" dia) (approx 3 per lb)">medium</span> apples
1 <span class="measurestring" title="head, medium (about 5" dia)">head medium</span> red cabbage
8 fl oz red wine
1/2 <span class="measurestring" title="cup (8 fl oz)">cup</span> red juice
1 <span class="measurestring" title="cup (8 fl oz)">cup</span> water
Pell, core and chop up the apples (Granny Smith). Core and chop the red cabbage.
Toss everything in a large pot or a crockpot and simmer until tender.
Serve with cooked or grilled sausages.
Note: tastes even better when reheated after a few days, but does not freeze well.
