||In a large soup pot, heat olive oil and sauté onion until softened.

||Heat to boiling, and boil rapidly for 30 minutes.
||Add ham, and reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes more, stirring occasionally.
||Season with salt and pepper before serving.
