1/2 cup buttermilk, low fat
1 medium egg
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1 1/2 tsps ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 oz canola oil
1 oz applesauce
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup molasses
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups flour
Combine flour, spices and baking soda in small bowl.
Lightly beat egg. In large bowl, stir together sugar, buttermilk, oil, applesauce, molasses and egg.
Add flour mix to wet ingredients and stir well.
Bake for 25 minutes at 350 °F (175 °C).
Cut into 4x4 = 16 squares.
