Pre-heat oven to 350 °F (175 °C). |

Lightly grease a 13 x 9 "glass baking dish with 2 teaspoons of the butter. Cream together 1 stick of the butter in a large bowl. |

Add two eggs, one egg at a times, beating after adding each one. |

In a separate bowl sift together 1 cup flour, baking soda, teaspoon of cinnamon and salt. |

Add to the wet ingredients 1 cup sour cream, 1 tsp vanilla and the dry ingredients that were mixed in the other bowl. |

Fold in the apples. Pour into dish spreading to the edges. |

Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 4 tablespoons butter in to separate bowl and mix until it makes a coarse crumble. |

Add to top of cake mix. Cook until golden brown (35-40 minutes). Let cool for 10 minutes. |
